Gorgolaini Municipality is located on the foot of mountain Psiloritis. In the area you will also find smaller mountains such as Koudounia and Prinos. The natural environment consists of tall and abrupt mountain tops, plateaux, gorges, sources, torrents and valleys. In the region are a lot of caves (bat cave in Ano Asites where two protected types of bats are accommodated).Also, in the wider region of the municipality exist: 80 species of flora of which 4 have been characterized protected, 24 species of fauna of which 11 have been characterized protected and 16 species of birds of which 8 have been characterized protected. The cultivated extents of the municipality at the biggest part are covered by vineyards and olives trees.
Gorgolaini municipality consists of 6 villages: Agios Miros, Ano Asites, Kato Asites, Pentamodi, Petrokefalo and Pirgos. Agriculture is the main activity of the residents whilst in smaller percentages follow livestock-farming, construction, trade and tourism.
